dios:I have had strong eeilfngs against animal cruelty ever since I was a child, and I will never forget what made me begin to feel this way. I was at the fair with my grandma, and we were walking around the indoor part where they have all the vendors selling things and giving out information. The Humane Society had a booth set up there, and they had various photos on a board, of abused animals, such as dogs on chains that were way too short, animals crowded in small cages, swayed-back horses, etc. But the one picture that changed my attitude toward animal cruelty forever was of a beautiful black and white tuxedo cat that had been tied to a train track and run over by the train, literally cut in half, one half on each side of the rail. But the most disturbing thing about it was that CHILDREN had done it!! Children my age!! I could not understand how anyone could hate an animal so much to do something that horrible, let alone children. These are the sorts of people that grow up to be axe murderers. You may not ever be able to easily forget what you saw, but if you start supporting animal welfare groups, even just donating a small amount of money, it will make you feel better to know you are doing something to help them in the effort to end animal cruelty.
